There were reports of an exploding UFO over Sacramento, Calif., which was caught on a video with a smartphone that was aimed at a telescope eyepiece. The report had many believers, as well as skeptics, wondering if it really was an Unidentified Flying Object, especially after Sacramento's CBS13 television station aired the video. However, NBC news reported on Jan. 4 that the exploding UFO was actually a weather balloon.
The event occurred on Dec. 20 at approximately 5 p.m. The alleged UFO was first seen by Elijah Prychodzko when he observed an orb in the sky with a smaller object circling around it. He called his nephew over to the telescope, which prompted them to take a video of it.
On the video, it appeared that the object exploded, with the clip showing a haze of fragments floating throughout the air.
While many news outlets said that there was no reasonable explanation, participants in several UFO forums stated that the video was proof for the existence of other life forms.
While discussing the exploding UFO theory on the Above Top Secret forum, members quickly turned their discussion into the possibility of the object being a weather balloon. One person attributed their response to the National Weather Service's Upper Air Observations Program,
"...The small dot 'orbiting' the balloon was the radiosonde that was attached below it with about 70 to 100 feet of string."
What do you think of the exploding UFO theories? Do you think it was a weather balloon or do you believe video clip is proof of the existence of other life forms?
