All eyes were transfixed on a baseball game between the Vancouver Canadians and the Everett AquaSox on September 3, 2013 – that is until what looked like a UFO made an appearance over Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium.

Fans at the minor league game were transfixed by the strange object, which showed up in the sky over the stadium. The UFO was triangular and had a row of bright blue lights on it. The object hovered for a bit and then moved up and down before it flew off.

Almost immediately, fans got on their cell phones and tweeted photos of it.

The UFO, which made its appearance during the sixth inning, hovered for a bit, moved up and down and then shot off.

It was surmised by the local paper that it could have been a “remote-controlled helicopter or kite.” However, 10 days later an article appeared on the Huffington Post web site stating that it was all simply a public relations stunt.

“Recent close encounters reported by local UFO bloggers are actually the result of an elaborate hoax masterminded by the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre," according to their own press release,” the Post article stated. The nearby space center “built a drone shaped like their new planetarium and flew it around Vancouver. Working with a local ad agency, they developed an ‘extreme teaser campaign’ to try and draw more people to the new building.”
