Photographs taken at Neumayer Station in Antarctica on January 31, 2012 show an anomaly in the sky that is being called a UFO. Time lapse images of the area show a dark gray object as it broke away from the clouds above Neumayer Station.
This UFO sighting in Antarctica was reported by Jfingerskeys who speculated whether the strange sight was actually a UFO or just an unusual cloud formation.
Lenticular clouds have been mistaken for unidentified flying objects in the past, but they tend to have a flatter lens-shaped appearance. The UFO in Antarctica was thicker in the center with defined edges.
Lenticular clouds commonly form above mountains or mountain ranges. Although there are mountain ranges in Antarctica, these geographic features are not present where the Neumayer Station UFO was photographed.
Note that the amorphous black blob on the left side of the pictures is a trick of the camera caused by the bright sunlight. The UFO-shaped anomaly is larger, higher and to the right of that black blob.
