UFC vet Dustin Jacoby added to Glory 5 London kickboxing card

According to a March 20 post from Bleacher Report, Tyrone Spong headlines a kickboxing match in London, England against K-1 Grand Prix champion and legend Remy Bonjasky at the Glory 5 kickboxing event slated for March 23.

"I'm at a certain level right now in my career that I just need big fights to motivate me, or a challenge to motivate me," said Spong. "In Remy (Bonjasky) I'm facing a big name in the sport, and that's something that motivates me. If it's boxing or MMA, it's a challenge. Those are things I really need at this stage of my career.

"Honestly, I've fought the best, I've beat the best, I have multiple titles, so what's there left to gain or to motivate me? The only thing I can come up with are big names, big champions as opponents or challenges."

A bout between UFC vet Dustin Jacoby and Michael Duut has also been added to the Glory 5 London card.

Less than two months after he pulled off a miraculous victory in the inaugural development Road To GLORY USA light heavyweight (209 pounds) tournament, Jacoby (3-0, 3 KO’s) of Arenzville, Illinois has been added to the highly anticipated GLORY 5 London kickboxing mega-card at ExCel Arena, and will face fellow rising star Duut (36-3, 16 KOs) of Amsterdam, Holland.

“Dustin Jacoby’s performance in the development Road To GLORY USA tournament was really something special and is what earned him a place on GLORY’s big stage,” said Glory Sports International CEO Andrew Whitaker. “Of course, now he will be tasked with competing against an opponent with a great deal more experience in the kickboxing ring than he has faced yet, so it will be very interesting to see how he fares against this stiffer challenge in Michael Duut.”

Glory Sports International also confirmed today that U.S. karate sensation Raymond Daniels has been removed from the GLORY 5 London card and will be rescheduled to compete soon.

Tickets for GLORY 5 London, priced from £45, can be purchased online at www.ticketmaster.co.uk or by phone at 0844 847 2543.
