According to a Jan. 21 report from Fightline, UFC star Miesha Tate has inked a deal with First Round Management.
"I am excited to be working with Malki Kawa as I further my MMA career," Tate said. "My goal is to fight in the UFC and become the world champion, and I believe working with Malki and his team at First Round Management gives me the best opportunity to achieve that goal."
First Round Management concentrates on representing the best in the world of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). Armed with years of experience, the company negotiates and secure marketing and event agreements. They also work hand-in-hand with clients to develop tailored career plans that fit the fighter's career and personal goals.
First Round Management represents Jon Jones, Frank Mir and several other UFC stars.
No word yet on when Tate's first UFC appearance will be, but rumor has it that she'll be fighting Cat Zingano in the summer of 2013.
"I am looking forward to fighting in the UFC in April or May and I am looking to get a fight with Miesha Tate," Zingano said during a recent appearance on Pro MMA Insider.
When pressed for more details, Zingano was reluctant to reveal more information about the potential matchup with Tate.
The UFC did not make any formal announcement of a bout between Zingano and Tate, as the fight is just a rumor at this stage of the game.
A fight between Miesha Tate and Cat Zingano makes a whole lot of sense, as both women are legitimate top ten contenders in the female bantamweight division.
Zingano improved to 7-0 with a convincing win over Raquel Pennington at Invicta FC 4, and Tate won seven of her last eight.
Tate is currently the #5-ranked pound-for-pound female MMA fighter in the world by MMARising.com, and No. 4 in the bantamweight division.
Zingano is ranked as the No. 10 bantamweight in the world.
Both women back up their good looks with talent inside the cage, and a battle between Tate and Zingano has the potential to be a true No. 1 contender bout for a shot at Ronda Rousey's belt.
