UFC signs Sara McMann, Alexis Davis to bolster women's division to six

The competition for women in the UFC is building.

The UFC on Tuesday signed 135-pounders Sara McMann and Alexis Davis, both veterans of the all-female Invicta promotion.

There are now six women in the UFC.

Ronda Rousey, who entered the UFC as champion, meets Liz Carmouche in the promotion's first-ever women's bout Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif., in the headlining match of UFC 157. The second female fight will take place Saturday, April 13 at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, when Miesha Tate meets Cat Zingano during the finale of the 17th season of The Ultimate Fighter.

There is no word yet if McMann and Davis will meet.

McMann won the silver medal for the United States in wrestling at the 2004 Olympics and is 6-0 since turning professional in MMA.

Davis is 13-5 overall. Like McMann, Davis is coming off a win over Shayna Baszler in the all-female Invicta promotion. She has won five of her last six fights.
