UFC ships Bryce Harper a championship belt

According to a Jan. 6 post from Bleacher Report, the UFC decided to ship Washington Nationals slugger Bryce Harper a championship belt for no other reason besides him asking for one.

Harper, 21, took to Twitter to ask UFC President Dana White if he could have a title belt.

"I need to get a belt, everybody has WWE ones, I want a @UFC one! Anyway we can make that happen? @danawhite @joerogan @lorenzofertitta," Harper tweeted.

Much to his surprise, the UFC quickly responded and let him know that they would send him one if he hit a homer while wearing it.

"@Bharper3407 Only if you promise to hit a home run while wearing the UFC belt ;). Seriously we'll send you one if you send us a pic with it!" the UFC tweeted to Harper.

Harper immediately accepted the offer.

"@ufc that's a no brainier! I'll hit a homerun in BP with it on!" he tweeted back to them.

Just three days later, Harper was spotted in the gym with his new UFC belt wrapped around his waist.

".@Bharper3407 trains like a champ in the offseason. Look forward to seeing you hit a HR w/ the belt on, Bryce! @MLB," the UFC tweeted.

At the end of the day, this situation turned out to be great public relations and excellent marketing from the UFC.

It makes the company look great to have popular athletes such as Harper tweeting about them and giving them free exposure to a new demographic of sports fans.

Perhaps some baseball fans who had never heard of the UFC decided to check out some fights due to Harper's tweets about the company.

Harper has over 350,000 Twitter followers, so his tweets about the UFC got a lot of new eyes on the company.
