UFC on FX 7's Belfort takes verbal jab at Sonnen, calls for title shot vs Jones (Video)

According to a Jan. 19 report from Sherdog, UFC on FX 7 winner Vitor Belfort wants a rematch with UFC light heavyweight champ Jon Jones.

After Belfort destroyed Michael Bisping with a gorgeous head kick at UFC on FX 7, he asked for the UFC to get Chael Sonnen out of the way and for him to fight Jones.

“[Sonnen] is a clown," Belfort said. "Get out of the way. [You] just got knocked out pretty badly by Anderson Silva, and then you fight Jon Jones? You don’t deserve it,” Belfort told Fox Sports following his win at Geraldo Jose de Almeida State Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil. “You did the reality show. I know you’re a good athlete, but you need to go the back of the line and let me fight the champion in a rematch. Go home.”

Sonnen is slated to fight Jones on Apr. 23 at UFC 157, so it's unlikely that Belfort will have the opportunity to fight the champ any time soon. Belfort also already lost to Jon Jones in convincing fashion, making it even more unlikely for the UFC to give him a title shot.

Belfort was proud of his win over Bisping, and he credits his faith for allowing him to keep moving forward in his MMA career.

“It’s amazing. I thank God every day for the life I have and the opportunity. I thank you, Jesus, for giving me the strength to do this for 17 years,” said Belfort. “I think I’m the only guy from my era who is still doing this on a great scale, so now I’m looking for bigger challenges.”

As for Michael Bisping, he was humble in defeat.

"It was a beautiful kick. He caught me. He was better than me tonight," Bisping said after losing to Belfort at UFC on FX 7.
