On Saturday, March 2nd the UFC returned to Japan for it's 8th event on Fuel TV. The event featured many of the talented Asian fights, as well as, some new comers. The main event was the return of long time Pride champion Wanderlei Silva to Japan, as he faced off against light heavyweight contender Brian Stann. There were a total of 11 fights: 5 that steamed live on Facebook and 6 the aired live on Fuel TV. There were 3 finishes during this event, all by KO/TKO. Here are the results:
Hyun Gyu Lim made a statement in his UFC debut with a 2nd round KO of Marcelo Guimares.
Alex Caceres used dominate ground game to defeat Kyung Ho Kang in a close 3 round fight by split decision.
Kazuki Tokudome was impressive in his UFC debut defeating Cristiano Marcello by unanimous decision.
Takeya Mizugaki and Bryan Caraway went to war for 3 rounds with Mizugaki edging Caraway in a close split decision.
Brad Tavares dominated Riki Fukuda in a 3 round unanimous decision victory.
Dong Hyun Kim used dominate wrestling to defeat Siyar Bahadurzada by unanimous decision.
Rani Yahya used elite BJJ to defeat Mizuto Hirota by unanimous decision.
Yushin Okam and Hector Lombard had a 3 round battle with Okami winning by split decision.
Diego Sanchez had trouble dealing with Takanori Gomi, but managed to edge him in a close split decision.
Mark Hunt and Stefan Struve had a tough 2 round brawl with Hunt dropping Struve in the 2nd, winning by TKO.
Wanderlei Silva and Brian Stann had one of the most exciting fights of all time with 2 rounds of straight brawling. Eventually Silva dropped Stann late in the 2nd, winning by KO.
