Rua has never lost in rematches, and he hopes to continue that trend with a victory over Henderson.
"The first fight was a great fight, it was a very tough fight. We are two fighters who are aggressive, who are always looking to strike and looking for the knockout. I think that's what makes the fight more interesting, and probably I could learn some things here and there from the first fight. It was five rounds, but in the end we are strikers and we are fighting to finish the fight and to win," Rua said.
"My focus is on winning the fight, and I want to win any way I have to that's possible. I want to finish the fight, obviously that's always my goal, whether it's by submission or knockout but if I goes to the judges hopefully the score the fight for me and see it in my favor."
As for Henderson, he isn't expecting a five-round war this time around. He wants to finish "Shogun" earlier in the fight.
"I felt like there probably would be a rematch at some point and that fight's going to be hard to duplicate. I'm going to try to finish him earlier, which won't make it quite as exciting for the fans," Henderson said. "I've kind of made some game plan adjustments so the fight will definitely be a little different this time and I'll definitely be able to finish him and take advantage of certain things that he does a little better."
Also on the UFC Fight Night 38 card, Cezar Ferreira fights C.B. Dolloway in a battle that pits a hometown favorite against a U.S.-born fighter.
UFC Fight Night 38 also features main card clashes between Fabio Maldonado and Gian Villante, along with Leonardo Santos vs. Norman Parke.
In all likelihood, Henderson vs Rua won't live up to their first fight. Both men are three years older, and not getting any younger.
However, the Henderson vs "Shogun" rematch is still a fun fight for the fans and people will definitely tune in to watch.
