UFC Fight Night 38: Dan Henderson vs 'Shogun' Rua results

According to a March 22 post from Bleacher Report, Godofredo Pepey got UFC Fight Night 38 off to a rollicking start with a first-round knockout of Noad Lahat.

Pepey came out swinging, and an overhand right knocked Lahat out cold midway through the opening stanza.

The official stoppage came at the 2:39 mark of the first round.

In the second fight on the UFC Fight Night 38 card, Francimar Barroso battled Hans Stringer in a key light heavyweight tilt.

Barroso vs. Stringer was the first fight on the televised portion of the UFC Fight Night 38 card. After a close first round, Barrosa stormed back with a fine second frame.

Later in the evening, Leonardo Santos fights Norman Parke and Cezar Ferreira battles C.B. Dollaway in front of a hometown crowd.

Also on the UFC Fight Night 38 main card, hometown favorite Fabio Maldonado takes on Long Island standout Gian Villante.

Henderson vs Rua

The UFC Fight Night 38 main event sees Mauricio "Shogun" Rua taking on Dan Henderson in a rematch of what was one of the greatest fights in UFC history.

Henderson and Rua fought three years ago in a five-round classic that is fondly remembered by UFC fans. Henderson walked away from that fight with his hand raised, but not before Rua gave him a pummeling in the championship rounds.

Henderson gassed out in the late rounds of that fight, and he says it'll be different this time around.

Henderson is now 43 years old, so time is winding down for him to make a run at the UFC's light heavyweight title. If Henderson is to make a run at a title shot, he'll need to start with a win over Rua.

As for "Shogun," he's still just 32 years old. However, Rua has been in dozens of MMA wars over the years. He's definitely a battled-tested veteran, even though he's still in his early-30s.

UFC Fight Night 38: Henderson vs Rua went down on March 23 in Natal, Brazil.
