UFC coming to New Orleans Sept 17th

Sept 17th the UFC is coming to New Orleans at the convention center for Fight Night 25. The card was to feature the first five round non title fight between Jake Ellenberger and Jake Shields; however plans have since been changed.  The only local fighter on the card, Mississippi's Alan Belcher will face Jason MacDonald on the main card.  Belcher has beaten his last two opponents Pate Cote and Wilson Gouvela.

New Orleans has been fortunate to have some larger scale professionals on shows recently including Superstar Charlie Rader of TUF 13 who recently defeated Lanny Dardar of Houma on Prestige Fights IV at the Alario Center this fall.  The New Orleans region is home to Rich Clementi, who fought in the UFC ten times as well as to current UFC fighters Patrick Barry and Melvin Guilliard.  Bud Light is the major sponsor of the event and many fans found tickets hard to find because of numerous free promotional packages given away by one of MMA's great sponsors. Locally, Bud Light has been a major sponsor of Prestige Fights, the largest MMA promotion in New Orleans which hosts many top level professional fights.   Carlos Mena, Prestige Fight's promoter recently called Bud Light and their local distributor's support "fundamental to the growth of MMA in the region."
