We loved her in Strikeforce and on the cover of ESPN magazine and now Gina Carano might be returning to MMA. When we last saw her in the cage in 2009, the Texan suffered a knockout loss to Cristiane Justino. But her contract was purchased by Zuffa following the sale of Strikeforce and “The Crush’ allegedly still has four fights left on the deal. Following the UFC on Fox event this past Saturday, Dana White told reporters he’s a bit smitten:
“I don’t think I’ve ever used this word before, but she is one of the most charming human beings I’ve ever met. Charming. I’m not talking hot or beautiful. To listen to what she has to say about fighting, it’s pretty awesome.”
And she can also likely still draw money. That is something else Dana probably likes. After staring in the film Haywire, Carano appeared in In the Blood and Fast & Furious 6. It is safe to say her acting career hasn’t skyrocketed like some expected and now might be the best time for her to return to the sport that made her famous.
In what direction the UFC goes here is up for debate, but a super-fight with Ronda Rousey wouldn’t be the worst idea. While some would argue Carano hasn’t done anything to deserve a shot at the bantamweight title, the money Zuffa could make from the matchup would be laughable.
