UFC 172 adds two fights

UFC 172 doesn’t go down until April 26th, but MMA fans are already talking about the card. Highlighted by a main event pitting light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and Glover Teixeira, the buzz machine is in full effect. But Dana White and company didn’t stop there. Two additional bouts were added today.

Anthony Johnson will make his return to the promotion after being let go following weight issues and a loss to Vitor Belfort at UFC 142. Since that loss, “Rumble” has won six fights, but will face a much stiffer test in Phil Davis this spring. “Mr. Wonderful’s” only loss inside the octagon came at the hands of Rashad Evans in 2012 and a win here might put him in line for a shot at the title in the near future.

Also mixing it up that night will be Luke Rockhold and Tim Boetsch. Rockhold, the former Strikeforce middleweight champion, is coming off an impressive win against Costas Philippou last month. “The Barbarian,” on the other hand, last beat C.B. Dollaway at UFC 166, but lost a bit of career momentum when the aforementioned Costas Philippou knocked him out at UFC 155.

Other rumored fights include Jake Ellenberger vs. Tarec Saffiedine and Joseph Benavidez vs. Tim Elliott. It all goes down at the Baltimore Arena in Baltimore, Maryland. Check UFC.com for ticket information.
