UFC 171 weigh-in results: Johny Hendricks misses weight on first attempt

According to a March 14 report from MMA Fighting, Johny Hendricks needed two tries to make weight for his 170-pound title fight against Robbie Lawler.

Hendricks, who fights Lawler on March 15 in the main event of UFC 171 in Dallas, Texas, tipped the scales at 171.5 pounds on his first attempt.

Hendricks was on the mark at 170 pounds on his second try, but he appeared to be visibly gaunt and tired from the extreme weight-cutting.

Following the UFC 171 weigh-in, UFC President Dana White said he was shocked that Hendricks had trouble making weight since it was very uncharacteristic for him. World-renowned weight cutting expert Mike Dolce told the media that Hendricks may have had a faulty scale in his hotel room, which led to the mishap at the official UFC 171 weigh-in.

Heading into UFC 171 fight night, UFC fans now have to wonder how much of a toll the weight cut will have on Hendricks' body.

As for Lawler, he was right on the mark at 170 pounds. Whoever wins during Saturday night's clash will walk away with the welterweight title belt Georges St-Pierre vacated just a couple months ago.

In the UFC 171 co-main, both Carlos Condit and Tyron Woodley were on the mark for their battle. Condit looked lean at 170.5 pounds, while Woodley also was on the mark for the 170-pound contracted weight limit.

Also on the UFC 171 main card, Diego Sanchez and Myles Jury were both cleared for their 155-pound tilt. Sanchez weighed in at 155 pounds, while Jury was on the mark at 156 pounds.
