According to a Dec. 27 post from MMA Junkie, the UFC 168 weigh-ins took place at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nev., and UFC middleweight champ Chris Weidman (184 pounds) was on the mark for his fight against former titleholder Anderson Silva (185 pounds).
"My approach is the same as last time," Weidman says of his fight against Silva. "Work hard in training camp, and work hard when I get in the cage. Be aggressive, follow my instincts, go forward and go for the finish."
In the UFC co-main, UFC bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey (135 pounds) had no problem hitting her contracted weight requirement, and her opponent, Miesha Tate, also weighed in at 135 pounds.
Tate and Rousey have a real-life rivalry that dates back to early-2012.
"Ronda said some things that really got under my skin," Tate told USA TODAY Sports. "She plays the mental warfare game. I didn't want to fight her because I love fighting; I wanted to fight her because I wanted to beat her up."
Also on the UFC 168 main card, Josh Barnett and Travis Browne are set for a heavyweight clash.
Barnett weighed in at 252, while Browne tipped the scales at 242.
“I think it pays me a lot of money,” said Barnett when asked to analyze the matchup between himself and Browne. “I think that it pushes my career along in a very nice way.
“[It’s] striker versus grappler for the most part,” he said, “but I don’t think it’s going to be a long fight.”
The UFC 168 main card also includes a key tilt between Jim Miller and perennial title contender Fabricio Camoes. Miller weighed in at 156, as did Camoes.
The UFC 168 weigh-ins only had one major incident, as Diego Brandao tipped the scales at 153 pounds, eight pounds over his contracted requirement of 145 pounds.
His opponent, Dustin Poirier, weighed in at 146 pounds.
Brandao (18-8 MMA, 4-1 UFC) had two hours to shed the excess weight, but he only managed to get down to 151.5 pounds. Due to missing weight, Brandao will be fined 25 percent of his fight purse.
“I’m going to f—ing break you, and you know it," Poirier (14-3 MMA, 6-2 UFC) yelled at his overweight opponent during the weigh-ins.
