According to a Dec. 28 post from MMA Junkie, UFC 168 features a middleweight championship bout between hard-hitting knockout artist Chris Weidman (10-0) and Brazilian MMA legend Anderson Silva (33-5), as well as a women’s bantamweight title fight between champ "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey (7-0) and perennial title contender Miesha Tate (13-4).
The UFC 168 main and co-main are both highly-anticipated rematches.
Weidman and Silva fought at UFC 162, which was one of the biggest events in UFC history. Weidman snapped Silva's 16-fight win streak with a second-round knockout.
As for Tate and Rousey, they have a bitter personal feud that dates back to 2011. Rousey defeated Tate via first-round armbar inside the Strikeforce cage, so "Cupcake" would like nothing more than to settle the score at UFC 168.
Also on the UFC 168 main card, No. 5-ranked Josh Barnett (33-6 MMA, 5-1 UFC) battles No. 7-ranked Travis Browne (15-1-1 MMA, 6-1-1 UFC) in a contest that could determine who is next in line for a UFC heavyweight title shot.
Rounding out the UFC 168 main card, Jim Miller (22-4 MMA, 11-3 UFC) looks to return to his old form against Fabricio Camoes (14-7-1 MMA, 1-2-1 UFC), and Dustin Poirier (14-3 MMA, 6-2 UFC) looks to inch closer to a top 10 ranking in the stacked featherweight division by taking down Diego Brandao (18-8 MMA, 4-1 UFC).
“I see another dangerous fight,” Miller said. “I have to fight my fight and make sure everything that happens in there is on my terms. I’m hoping to leave my mark on such a good card with a devastating victory.”
UFC 168 takes place at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nev., with the first bout set for 7 p.m.
