UFC 157: Rousey vs. Carmouche

On Saturday February 23rd the UFC made history with it's first women's fight. The fight took place in Anaheim, California and featured former Strikeforce champion Ronda Rousey vs. former Strikeforce contender Liz Carmouche. This bout was for the first UFC women's bantamweight championship. Also making history this night was Liz Carmouche as the first openly gay fighter in MMA. The fight card also featured the light heavyweight title eliminator fight between Dan Henderson and Lyoto Machida. Neil Magney went the distance verse Jon Manley, winning by unanimous decision.

Kenny Robertson pulled off an impressive submission victory, using a hybrid leg lock on Brock Jardine in the 1st round.

Sam Stout and Caros Fodor had a close 3 round war with Stout winning by split decision.

Dennis Bermudez and Matt Grice brawled it out for 3 rounds with Bermudez winning the split decision.

Michael Chiesa took down Anton Kuivanen in the 2nd round submitting him by rear naked choke.

Brendan Schaub used his superior wrestling to dominate Lavar Johnson, winning by unanimous decision.

Robbie Lawler upset John Koscheck with a 1st round TKO.

Court McGee and Josh Neer went to battle for 3 rounds with McCee winning his welterweight debut by unanimous decision.

Urijah Faber pulled off a spectacular standing rear-naked choke of Ivan Menjivar late in the 1st round.

Lyoto Machida edged Dan Henderson in a close 3 round fight by split decision.

Ronda Rousey overcame a dangerous early submission attempt by Liz Carmouche and submitted Carmouche via armbar late in the 1st round. Rousey retains the women's bantamweight belt.
