The UFC 157 fight card comes to television and live stream online feed on Saturday, Feb. 23 with a history-making main event. It will be the first UFC Pay-Per-View featuring two women battling in the main event, as current Women's Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey defends her title against Liz Carmouche. Back in January, the event looked like it might be lackluster in terms of ticket sales and PPV buys, but a Feb. 22 report from MMA Mania indicates this PPV may be a success after all.
The UFC 157 live stream fights begin as early as 6:35 p.m. EST with free Facebook prelims. There's three fights scheduled for these first preliminary bouts with Robertson vs. Jardine, Manley vs. Magny and Burrell vs. Villefort. To watch these, all fans need to do is head over to the UFC Facebook page and click "Like," then return back at 6:35 p.m. EST to watch the free live stream access.
At 8 p.m. EST, there's four more free preliminary fights to watch on television. The FX channel will feature Schaub vs Johnson, Chiesa vs Kuivanen, Bermudez vs Grice and Stout vs Fodor. In Roanoke, viewers with Cox Cable can see these live UFC 157 bouts on channel 57.
The main card is what many are talking about, as it features a co-main event of Lyoto Machida vs. Dan Henderson, and then the main women's championship fight of Rousey vs. Carmouche. Rousey is currently an overwhelming favorite to win the fight, as it's been said UFC lacks much of a women's division. Some believe that may hurt this particular event, but not the UFC's head honcho.
According to MMA Mania's report from Feb. 22, UFC President Dana White felt encouraged by the success of the upcoming Pay-Per-View, noting during his recent press conference:
"We're a few hundred tickets from a sellout. And, the gate is so big because the tickets remaining are all the cheap seats, which is very unusual. Usually we get in these situations and it's more the middle tier seats that are still there. These are the cheapest seats in the place. This is going to be a sellout."
White added with regards to the Pay-Per-View buys:
"I know there was a lot of smack talk initially when I announced this fight with headlining two women, well, this gate is bigger. There is all this talk about pay-per-view buys and how women would do, I just talked to Lorenzo and this fight is trending very well. So, to all the naysayers who said this and that about two women headlining a fight, I won't be rude, but, you know what I usually say about this."
The main UFC 157 Pay-Per-View card has a start time of 10 p.m. EST on live stream internet feed and TV. Additionally, fans can watch it at local bars or restaurant in their areas that are showing the fight live. In Roanoke that includes the Buffalo Wild Wings in Roanoke. Otherwise, it can be ordered on Cox Cable, DISH Network, DirecTV and other cablr or satellite providers.
