UFC 129 viewing parties are taking place throughout Las Vegas

In only nine days, Georges St-Pierre will face off against Jake Shields for the UFC Welterweight Championship at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada. This will be a historic night, in more ways than one, as over 55,000 screaming MMA fans, the largest attended UFC event, will be in attendance. This will also be Randy Couture’s last MMA fight as he will be retiring after UFC 129 to continue his acting career. And if that wasn’t enough, another title bout will take place that night as Jose Aldo defends his featherweight belt against Canadian Mark Hominick.

This will surely be one of the most-purchased pay-per-views in the history of the UFC and, if you don’t have a ticket for the event, you can always pay the fee to watch it at home. But why would you want to do that? There are so many places throughout Las Vegas that are showing UFC 129 where you can watch the entire event with Las Vegas’ hardcore MMA fans.

Here is a listing of places having UFC 129 parties:

Hooter's on 7155 S. Rainbow Blvd in Las Vegas is one of my favorite places to watch the UFC and they will join in on the action with a UFC 129 viewing party. There will be drink and food specials and, of course, the Hooter's waitresses will be there to get you your refreshments and cheer on the fighters. The General Manager, Donald, does everything he can to make everyone feel welcome and it definitely shows as soon as you walk in. There is typically a $5 cover charge, but please call (702) 260-9464 in advance to get a table as it fills quickly.

Sammy Hagar's Cabo Wabo Cantina will also be holding a viewing event for UFC 129. The Tex Mex themed restaurant will charge a $20 cover, which includes access to the viewing party. The fights will be shown on multiple high definition television screens throughout the restaurant and bar, including two digital projector screens located on the upper level. Doors open at 5 p.m.. I recommend calling ahead at (702) 385-2226 to reserve a seat.

Rock & Rita's at Circus Circus will have festivities where guests can watch the action-packed card on two large video walls, three projection screens, or one of 22 HD flat screens located throughout the restaurant and two upstairs bars. Commentary will be streamed throughout on the premium sound system. Call (702) 691-5991 to make reservations.

Scooter's Pub on 6200 S. Rainbow Blvd in Las Vegas will also be hosting a UFC viewing party. Get some great drink specials and fantastic bar food, including burgers and pizza, before the fight officially starts. There are over 20 flat screens throughout the pub, so great viewing will be available everywhere in the pub. This is one of my favorite hangouts and there is no cover.

Want to experience UFC 129 at one of the coolest sports bars in all of Las Vegas? Then you have to check out Lagasse’s Stadium at The Palazzo. This high end sports bar has over 100 HD TV’s and a giant 9’x16’ screen, so you will never have a bad view of the fight. You can even place bets at the sportsbook inside the restaurant. Doors open shortly before 6 p.m. and reservations are highly recommended. To make a reservation call (702) 607-2665.

Blondies at Planet Hollywood Hotel and Casino is getting in on the viewing party action with their own UFC 129 event. Seating is by reservation only and the cost is $60 a person. But before you go off the deep end about the cover, keep in mind that this is a favorite of visitors to Las Vegas. You can meet people from out of town and then play beer pong with them after the fight. The food here is great and so are the many drinks and it doesn’t hurt that the waitresses dress like cheerleaders. Also the cover gives you all the domestic drafts you want until the end of the fight card. So if you are going here, I hope the fights are all decisions. What more could you want? Call (702) 737-0444 for reservations.

Xtreme Couture will open at 5 p.m. and the official kickoff for UFC 129 will start at 6 p.m. If you’re a hardcore fight fan, you may want to check this place out. This is Randy “The Natural” Couture’s training ground! Rub shoulders with amateurs and pros that train there. They will have free pizza, snacks, and drinks until they are all gone. Cover is $10 for guests and free for members. Call (702) 616-1022 for more information or visit their website.

Las Vegas’s own Station Casinos will be holding numerous UFC 129 viewing parties. Each Station Casinos property, including Aliante Station Casino + Hotel, Fiesta Henderson, Green Valley Ranch Resort, Spa, Casino, Palace Station Hotel & Casino, Red Rock Casino, Resort, Spa, Santa Fe Station, Sunset Station, will have a different cover charges, ranging anywhere between $10 and $20, and will surely have drink specials and raffle drawings.
