Miller, who trains at AMA Fight Club in Whippany, finished Ludwig with a tight arm bar 2:31 into the fight.
Ludwig backpedaled in the early going, trying to gage the southpaw Miller, who showed kickboxing combinations to perhaps set up his takedown. The pair sized up one another in the middle of the Octagon when Miller landed a short right hook that knocked down Ludwig.
Miller immediately went from side control to mount, secured Ludwig’s left arm, rolled back and forced the arm-bar tapout 2:31 into the fight.
Miller's fight was one of the telltale bouts of the UFC 108 card that was seemingly hexed because of a slew of injuries that forced a constant turnstile of changes. Miller originally was slated to fight Tyson Griffin. Griffin was injured and former UFC lightweight champion Sean Sherk was brought in. Sherk sustained a cut over his left eye and was forced off six days later, with Ludwig stepping in.
“I had a lot of opponents for this fight and (I just try to get better every day), that's my trick," said Miller. "I want to thank Duane for stepping up on this card, and everyone else for stepping up on short notice because of injuries. And I want to thank all the fans for showing up tonight. There were a lot of crap talkers saying (stuff) about this card. We’re here to fight. Thank you guys, thank everyone at home for buying this.
“I’ve been working on my stirking every day with Mike Constantino. We’ve got a great group of guys at AMA (Fight Club). I’m just trying to get better.”
