Daley scored a vicious knockout of Hazelett 2:24 into the fight, delivering a big left hook under the ear that floored him before knocking out Hazelett completely with a pair of left-handed bombs to the downed fighter.
Daley then celebrated over Hazelett and was over the top with his antics in the Octagon, even asking announcer Joe Rogan if the fight was to his liking.
“I apologize for my antics after the fight," Daley said. "When the adrenaline is pumping after a knockout, you do stupid things.”
Hazelett started out the fight with a cartwheel but Daley was ready and backed away. For the first minute, Hazelett stayed away while Daley sent his right leg into Hazelett’s left thigh often. Hazelett's main defense was lifting his left knee each time the Brit postured to throw his heavy hands.
Then came the boom.
“I wasn’t surprised at all that Dustin chose to stand with me," Daley said. "Dustin’s a great fighter, and all fights start standing. So I was not surprised at all. Dustin’s been in there with the best. ... He caught me with a jab. I was always going to come in with an overhand right over his jab, so I led with the overhand right and followed with the left hook and I was lucky I caught it.”
