Last night brought the end of another year that had been previously filled with tough economic times. But in lieu of the the status of the country, Kansas City decided to have a good time and listen to some great music. From the tiny venue the Riot Room came the sounds of one of the 90's be power-pop bands: Ultimate Fakebook.

A 3-piece group that had their main run between the years of 1994 and 2003, has been recently [and randomly] putting together a few reunion shows. The first of which was earlier in 2009 for a benefit and then again recently for fellow stage rockers Motion City Soundtrack. But for this special night, it was simply for the fans that call KC home (and some that do not).

The nearly packed venue had a chance to spend 2 hours dancing to catchy lyrics, melodic choruses and addicting riffs. And no UFB show would be complete without the "Rock Box" (a fiberglass/wooden box set to light up when someone stood on top) - which was subsequently damaged in the mayhem of the New Years Eve extravaganza.

If you were a die-hard fan, it was a picture perfect night. For the moderate fans it was an extremely good time and for everyone in between they were left with [pleasant] ringing in their ears.

A great way to start a new year indeed! Just ask Eric, Bill and Nick!
