The UConn Huskies will be one of three American Athletic Conference teams to face Brigham Young University during the 2014 football season. The University of Central Florida and Houston will also take on the Cougars this season.
Connecticut will play host BYU on Friday, Aug. 29, at Rentschler Field—the first game in a home-and-home series. In 2005, the Huskies will travel Provo, Utah, to take on the Cougars. This year's contest will be televised on ESPN, as will the UCF-BYU contest on Oct. 11 in Orlando.
“Our schools deserve a great deal of credit for developing schedules with a high-profile opponent and a distinguished institution such as Brigham Young University,” said American Athletic Conference Commissioner Mike Aresco. “Games with BYU not only bring national interest, but also ensure quality matchups for national television audiences on ESPN. We are delighted that several of our schools are scheduling BYU.”
A total of six schools from The American will be playing BYU between 2014 and 2017
“We have worked closely with several schools from The American to add them to our future football schedules and are grateful for their collaboration on dates and sites,” said Tom Holmoe, BYU Director of Athletics. “We anticipate they will all be great matchups.”
After releasing the 2014 home/away conference opponents earlier this month, The American will be announcing its complete 2014 schedule shortly.
