UCF Arboretum Fall Plant Sale and Gardening Workshops: behind the scenes details

Looking for a few things to add to your fall or winter garden? Even better, how about a little advice? The fourth annual Fall Plant Sale at the UCF Arboretum, located on the campus of the University of Central Florida, kicks off tomorrow, October 16, at 8:00 am, goes all day until 5:00 pm and continues Sunday from 12:00 pm until 5:00 pm. The Arboretum's biggest fundraising event, this weekend is packed full of great happenings. Below is the schedule of workshops and garden tours, along with a list of plants available for purchase. Non-profit organization Simple Living Institute has partnered with Arboretum staff and UCF students and faculty to bolster the workshop schedule and provide volunteer support. Free parking is available for all participants in parking lot "C2" around parking garage "C" (only), and students with a valid UCF ID get 5% off the total purchase. Attendees can enjoy a tour of the xeriscape and community gardens, plus workshops on container gardening, organic pest control, starting an organic garden or grow box, and worm composting. Forms of payment accepted include cash, personal checks and credit cards (for a small fee). All workshops and tours start at the arbor shade trellis just behind the Arboretum office at Trailer 525, 4000 Central Florida Blvd., Orlando, Fla., 32816.
