Yesterday, it was announced that the new UCI School of Law has established a Korean Law Center. The new center is part of the International Commerce and Law Institute at the law school and will serve as a hub for undergraduate and graduate students, legal scholars, judges, lawyers and business people from South Korea and the United States to learn and work together at the Center and in Korea.

According to a press release, UCI School of Law Dean Erwin Chemerinsky explained that the Korean Law Center is the first of several international branches of the UCI International Commerce and Law Institute. Also, the Center will function in partnership with law schools in Seoul National University and Sogang University in Seoul and will ultimately function as a one-stop for U.S./Korean business and legal matters. The Center will offer continuing legal education, certification for practitioners, mediation, expert witnesses, consulting, research, and public policy guidance that will support the academic, legal and business communities.

Who's who at the new UCI Korean Law Center? The Center will be headed by a board of directors that includes Dean Erwin Chemerinsky and four others with law and business backgrounds, in the United States and Korea.
