Today Oct. 10, 2013 Ubisoft revealed a new trailer highlighting the "Session Mode" of their upcoming video game "Rocksmith 2014 Edition." The mode allows guitarists to "jam with any type of band in any style, any scale, any key, anytime you want." The game's AI will help you create unique tunes as you improvise your own music. You can also jam-out with a friend in the multiplayer mode.
The new trailer shows how playing the guitar gently will result in an AI drummer plays gently too. Playing harder results in the drummer increasing their intensity. You can play with more than just an AI drummer though: You can create an entire band with 75 instruments to choose from and fully customize everything about the jam session. Additionally, session mode has lessons built in as "missions."
"Rocksmith 2014 Edition" features new gameplay, features, and tracks. Players use a real guitar or bass and can learn how to play over 50 songs while also improving their skills with the game's unique practice modes.
According to a prepared statement by Tony Key, the senior vice president of sales and marketing for Ubisoft North America:
Session Mode is a technological breakthrough when it comes to music software, and we are proud to be including this mode in the all-new Rocksmith 2014 Edition. It’s the closest experience you can have to actually jamming with a real band and is a better alternative than playing with static backing tracks or a metronome.
Additionally, Jerry Cantrell, the vocalist and lead guitarist for Alice in Chains said that the "new session mode feature is one of the most innovative music technologies in recent history and gives you the experience of playing with a real band that actually adapts to you.”
"Rocksmith 2014 Edition" hits Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Windows PC, and MAC on Oct. 22, 2013. Those who pre-order the game will receive a bonus track from The Smashing Pumpkins "Cherub Rock."
