Ubisoft President: Game delays 'ultimately will ensure we launch a better game'

Some folks may have a hard time understanding when one of their most anticipated games gets delayed, however; it always seems to workout for the better.

As it was highly publicized weeks ago that Watch Dogs and The Crew were going to be delayed, things have died down recently and fan emotions have become refocused on excitement and anticipation for the games once again.

Examiner.com recently had the chance to speak with Ubisoft North America President Laurent Detoc and he told us about having to make hard decisions when it comes to delaying a game.

"There are definitely times when we have to make tough decisions, such as moving a launch date, as it initially upsets some in our community but ultimately will ensure we launch a better game.

"A great game, such as Far Cry 3 last year or Rayman Legends this year, has to have the time and resources to make sure it’s done right. We’re proud of how far we’ve come and see this next-generation transition as another opportunity to grow, gain market share and create amazing experiences for our fans.

"We believe that ultimately, it’s our fans that help influence our franchises, our business and our success. If we create compelling experiences, listen to our fans and make smart business decisions with them in mind, we will win the race," Detoc said.

As consumers, we want the best games possible and we don't want to waste $60 on something that needed a couple more months of development. We want the biggest bang for our buck, even if that means experiencing a delay.

While it does sting when a beloved title or highly anticipated game gets delayed, it is ultimately the best course of action for the game and for the gamer.
