Uber is "a technology company that has developed a software that allows anyone to request a ride via mobile app or the web," according to the company's website. MOMS for Sight, which is the nonprofit organization hosting Black Ties and Blindfolds, and Uber have partnered to provide guests with $20 off their first ride, MOMS for Sight executive director Lisa Pleasants announced in an email on Thursday. In addition, Uber will donate $5 from every ride using the event's promo code (MOMSFORSIGHT) on Saturday night to MOMS for Sight, said Pleasants.
Black Ties and Blindfolds is a gala-style event taking place at the Wilson Center of the Arts on Saturday from 7-10 p.m., with proceeds benefiting the Foundation Fighting Blindness. Guests will enjoy refreshments, a silent auction, and a brief presentation on life with low vision. To purchase tickets for Black Ties and Blindfolds, please visit the event's website. For more info on how to redeem your Uber promo code, please visit the Black Ties and Blindfolds event page on Facebook.
