Today is National Cat Day. According to CNNMoney, in honor of this day, Uber partnered with the popular meme site called Cheezburger. The reason? Uber offered to deliver kittens on-demand to those in Seattle, New York and San Francisco for the cost of $20.
As noted in Uber’s blog, the offer was good between 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. on October 29, 2013. Those wanting to take advantage of this service needed to download the Uber app for iPhone or Android and request the “KITTENS!” option.
In addition to sharing the ride with a cute kitten for 15 minutes, Uber threw in some cupcakes made by Duff Goldman and his team at Charm City Bakery.
The best part of this offer was that the kittens were adoptable and all the money was to be donated to the city’s local shelter. Those benefitting were the Seattle Humane Society, the San Francisco SPCA, and in New York City the ASPCA.
Uber recommended following the activity on Twitter with hashtag #ICanHasUberKittens!
