UAB lost a key piece of their returning basketball team for next season.

Elijah Millsap has decided to stay in the NBA Draft after a breakout season with the Blazers

Elijah had a total of 17 double-doubles last season, breaking the record for UAB and coming in 13th in the nation last year. Millsap lead Conference-USA in rebounds with 9.5 a game. He also averaged 16.5 points for each contest this past season.

Elijah Millsap is the brother on NBA player Paul Millsap. After his brother's success ( a multi-million dollar contract with the Jazz), it is no surprise the Eli would want to take a shot at it. Obviously at the top of his game, if he is going to make it then now is the time.

This leaves a big hole for Mike Davis to fill. Last season was a great surprise for UAB despite not making the NCAA Tournament. With key players like Elijah Millsap and Aaron Johnson expected to return, it was believed that Mike Davis could at least put together another pretty decent team. Now, he has some major shoes to fill- arguably the most important shoes on the court.

I hope Davis does have recruits to replace Eli. We aren't getting much information about other recruits or signing any. Kinda nervous about it.

That is a tough break, not gonna be easy.
