U2's Bono gets street crowd in Dublin to sing to Jesus

So, what do U2's Bono and Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson have in common? A mutual love for Jesus Christ. As the Christian Post reported on Friday, in what has now become an annual tradition 5 years in the running, the rock star hit the streets of his hometown, Dublin, to busk (which is to sing in exchange for donations) in order to raise money for a homeless outreach program, The Simon Community.

After singing a famous 1970's hit, "Merry Christmas Everybody", by an English group named Slade, Bono interrupted the crowd, saying he now wanted to sing a carol for that child born in poverty, referring to the baby Jesus. He began with the famous line, "O come all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant....."

The crowd, which was reportedly around 1,000, initially grew silent before catching on to what was happening and singing along

While this may be a bit of a surprise to many, Bono - who is the son of Catholic father and a Protestant mother - has been increasingly outspoken about his Christian faith. Earlier this year, the rocker stopped by Focus On The Family, a Christian-based radio program that covers a multitude of social and faith-based issues. During the show, Bono was very open about his faith and expressing his faith in Jesus being "The Son of God".
