U2, Pharrell nominated for 2014 Oscars

Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Cheryl Boone Isaacs and actor Chris Hemsworth announced the 86th Academy Awards® nominations live from Beverly Hills on Thursday, January 16th. The Oscars® will air Sunday, March 2, 2014, live from The Dolby Theatre' on ABC. The awards will be hosted by Ellen DeGeneres.

The movies "American Hustle" and Gravity lead the nominations with ten each, followed by "12 Years Of Slave" with nine nominations.

In music, the nominations are as follows for Original Song in a Motion Picture

"Let it Go" - "Frozen" - Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez
"Ordinary Love" - "Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom" -music by U2, lyrics by Paul Hewson
"Happy" - "Despicable Me 2" - Pharrell Williams
"Alone Yet Not Alone" - "Alone Yet Not Alone" - music by Bruce Broughton, lyrics by Dennis Spiegel
"The Moon Song" - "Her" - music by Karen O, lyrics by Karen O and Spike Jonze

Other music related nominations were the movie "20 Feet From Stardom" was nominated for Best Documentary, musician Jared Leto was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role in "Dallas Buyers Club", and the Best original Score category.
