The U.S. ladies claimed their seventh consecutive softball world championship after beating the Japanese team in the final again in Caracas, Venezuela on Friday.
Japan took the long way to the final by facing Canada after their first loss to the U.S. team in the semifinal.
As expected Canada did not put up much of a fight since they barely made it past China with 1-0 on Thursday. The Japanese ladies claimed the win with 12-3 to advance to the finals and face the undefeated U.S. team once more while Canada earned bronze.
Although Japan had won the Olympic games in Bejiing by defeating the U.S. team 3-1 in 2008, the U.S. ladies completely shattered Japan's defense in both games on their way to the world championship this year and claimed the win with 7-2.
