Recently elected U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) visited LaRue Tactical in Leander yesterday to discuss his views regarding gun control and the Second Amendment.
In his remarks yesterday, according to Community Impact, Sen. Ted Cruz stated “President Obama and the Democrats in Congress feel emboldened to try to take advantage of a tragic situation in order to strip the rights of law-abiding citizens. The effort is cynical, political and wrong."
In an accompanying press release issued by his office, Sen. Cruz states “The Supreme Court made absolutely clear that the Second Amendment is a constitutional right of every American and constitutional rights are designed to be protected not just when they're popular, but especially when passions are high among those seeking to restrict and limit those rights.”
The press release also notes that the senator “has called for action to … deter and punish violent criminals and to prevent those with dangerous mental illness from illegally acquiring firearms.”
Sen. Ted Cruz was elected to become the 34th Senator of Texas last November. In the last month since he was sworn into office, Sen. Cruz is making a name for himself as a champion of gun rights and the Second Amendment. He was one of the three dissenting votes in the nomination of Sen. John Kerry for Secretary of State. Sen. Cruz has also challenged the nomination of Chuck Hagel for Secretary of Defense.
Sen. Cruz serves on Senate Judiciary Committee and is a ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution.
Sen. Cruz is also a favorite target of the media, drawing a comparison to “Sen. Joe McCarthy” by MSNBC television host, Chris Matthews.

Prior to his election to the senate, Sen. Cruz worked under Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott as the Solicitor General of Texas.
According to their website, LaRue Tactical is “known world-wide for sniper targets, quick-detachable mounting solutions and hyper-accurate 7.62mm and 5.56mm rifle systems.” The company is family owned and fabricates their products in Leander, Texas. LaRue Tactical sells their products online, to certified gun dealers and to the U.S. Military.
