U.S.News ranks the best diet plans

U.S. News and World Report released its annual rankings of the top 32 diet plans today. The DASH (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) Diet took the top spot for overall best plan.

According to, the diet plan, which was created to fight high blood pressure, was lauded for its healthiness and potential to prevent or control diabetes. It also got a nearly perfect score from the publication's panel of health experts for safety.

The diets were broken down into 8 categories on the list. Weight Watchers was named the best weight loss diet plan and the easiest to follow. It was also named the best commercial diet plan.

On the opposite end, the gluten-free Paleo diet, which was the most searched plan of last year, tied with the rule-heavy Dukan Diet for last place on the diet plan list.
