The U.S. Mega Millions jackpot grew to an estimated $400 million for the next drawing tonight on Friday, December 13. After lottery organizers announced that no one won the top prize of $344 million on Tuesday evening.
Tuesday's jackpot top prize had a direct cash payout option of $184 million, according to lottery organizers. The winning numbers from Tuesday night's drawing were: 5, 12, 22, 41, 65 and 13.
No one has won the jackpot in more than two months, pushing the purse steadily higher, although it remains well below the record-setting $656 million won on March 30, 2012. The $656 million drawing resulted in three grand prize ticket winners in the states of Illinois, Maryland and Kansas.
This marks more than two months since the last Mega Millions jackpot winner, pushing the purse steadily higher. The next drawing will be on a widely considered an unlucky date by many Americans Friday, December 13 at 11 P.M Eastern Time.
Friday's estimated $400 million jackpot drawing will be the second highest purse since the record-setting amount of $656 million.
