U.S. city to illegal aliens: 'We will protect you"

In a highly publicized effort to reassure its substantial illegal alien population, a major U.S. city has actually passed an ordinance guaranteeing that it will not follow in Arizona’s footsteps by enacting laws to help curb illegal immigration.

Lawmakers in Madison, Wisconsin, the state's capital, unanimously passed the resolution this week because minorities in the area feel that Arizona’s new law will cause backlash all the way to the BadgerState, according to a report from the public-interest group Judicial Watch.

Scheduled to take effect next month, Arizona’s measure (SB 1070) makes it a state crime to be in the U.S. without proper documentation, bans “sanctuary city” policies and requires local police to check the immigration status of all residents who have encounters with authorities.

President Barack Obama has ordered the Justice Department to fight the Arizona law, which he claims is racist and unconstitutional. Officials in Madison couldn’t agree more and they want illegal aliens in their beloved city to feel safe.

Besides vowing to oppose any measure that encourages discrimination based on race, the Wisconsin resolution asks law enforcement officers and county jail officials not to report illegal aliens who are booked for committing crimes of violence or property crimes to federal law enforcement agencies such as Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

This sort of protection is nothing new. Madison has long offered illegal immigrants sanctuary along with several other Wisconsin municipalities, including Racine and DaneCounty. Last year Wisconsin passed legislation that gives illegal aliens discounted tuition at the state’s public colleges and universities, while American citizens living in other states have to pay more costly "out-of-state" tuition and fees.

According to the Judicial Watch report, Wisconsin lawmakers came close to approving a measure that would give illegal aliens "special driver’s licenses."

For decades illegal immigrants were able to obtain driver’s licenses in Wisconsin but in 2005 the privilege was rescinded to comply with a federal law (Real ID Act) requiring states to verify the authenticity of every driver’s license applicant by 2011.

Legislators came close to offering illegal immigrants, who won’t meet the new federal security standards, special cards but made a last-minute decision not to when the issue came under public scrutiny, according to Judicial Watch.

Its obvious, Wisconsin is run by criminals. And they are racist. They let criminal trespassers have discounted tuition over Americans, and they have no respect for our laws. I'm guessing it's a democrat legislation and they need the illegal criminal votes.

And I live in "Wisconsin" - oh boy do I have a problem. But, do I? The officials in Madison are protecting "their beloved city"

Well, I take it here to inform them, it's my capitol of my State and really is it? Or does it belong to God and HE is working in their affairs to get what HE needs done. In my Bible it states that men make plans, but God directs their steps. How long will
HE wait until they wake up to this "Fact"?

    Dear Dianne E. Lau,

Did God direct 'Row VS Wade'?? You have quoted your scripture 'out of context'.

I suggest we take all our illegals from here in Texas to Wisconsin so they will benefit from the education we 'border states' have been getting all these years. They can 'love and coddle them' - and foot the bill.

I am really thinking they have no idea what it means to be invaded. Madison, Wisconsin wait until you figure out what we are all yelling about. AZ is supported by many Californians. Hopefully when Meg and Carly win we can pass the same law as AZ.

    Dianne,

I cant wait to see your face when you see all the trash spilled upon your land, gangs from in masses, and you no longer have a safe place to raise your children. It is fact 50% of gang members are illegal aliens, fact that they do more harm than good--proof is CA spending 10.5 billion a year on illegal aid and hospitals being shut down from illegal over use. It is fact that 40% of AZ illegal activities including theft, arson, kidnapping, drunk driving, driving without licence, insurance, registration, homicide, drug trafficking, etc. are from illegal aliens.(I will not call them immigrants because they are not.)

CA cut education by 250 million dollars per district this year while maintaining 10.5 billion a year in illegal alien aid. They are selling state buildings and cutting services to legal Americans. The insanity stops here. AZ is on the right track and soon CA will be too.

  • Tired of all the hypocrits in AZ and CA! 1 year ago

I wish that all the undocumented immigrants WOULD leave AZ and CA!! I would laugh at how that would back fire on you idiots!! You think that AZ would be a better state if 450,000 people left??!! Think again! Who is going to take over all the housing and businesses that are currently run and supported by these people??!! You guys really can't think in terms of long term consequences! GET REAL!! I can see it now you will REALY be crying about your poor states economies then!! I would LMAO!!

When will this insanity end. When will the laws of this nation be enforced. This great nation is circling the drain because of the incompetent leadership that has been elected by people looking for a free ride from the government.

You think Arizona is better with illegals. I dare you to moe there and see how once nice neighborhoods have been ruined. Go visit the border ranches and see the trash drug highways. But take a gun because you might encounter a group of drug mules escorted by drug criminals with automatic rifles.

Mauy these people now come to your neighborhood and trash it like they have Phoneix.

I wonder how the citizens of Wisconsin feel about being second class citizens? Man I would be very irritated if I lived there and had paid taxes all my years and had to pay more for my tuition than an illegal immigrant. Can't hardly believe the lawmakers would do this to their own citizens. They should be ashamed. Then saying they will not enforce the law of the land? What kind of people are running that state?
