Tyrant brings metal back to center stage in Michigan

In an age of pop culture and fifteen minutes of reality TV fame, it seems that unique music genres are not on anyones radar, but if Tyrant has anything to do with, they will make Michigan and the Midwest notice that the metal genre is here to stay and should be recognized. Tyrant has been finding their own niche market in the Michigan music industry and gaining fans along the way.

Even with their growing following Tyrant still doesn't feel like they have reached full potential. "We never really considered ourselves having a big following but in general just growing as a band in the Midwest music scene had been phenomenal, people here are super supportive and once they are a fan they show up to every show. There are a lot of supportive people, bands, venues, business etc in the Midwest music scene in all genres especially the metal scene," said members of Tyrant.

I had the chance to interview Tyrant we discussed everything ranging from how social media has impacted the music industry and what the future of the bands hold.

C: When did Tyrant come together?

T: We came together as Tyrant, around December of 2011.

C: What would you consider to be some of your most notable music influences at a younger age?

T: Well we all are very young haha, 15-17 so i dont know what "younger age" is but some of our most notable influences are Megadeth, Vektor, Pantera, Death and Diamond Plate. The sound has been called "a ruling force" by a few other publicists so I guess we can use that.

C: Tyrant has gained quite a large following in the Midwest, what was the process of coming up in the industry like?

T: We never really considered ourselves having a big following but in general just growing as a band in the Midwest music scene had been phenomenal, people here are super supportive and once they are a fan they show up to every show. There are a lot of supportive people, bands, venues, business etc in the Midwest music scene in all genres especially the metal scene.

C: How do you all as a band feel social media has helped and will continue to help your career?

T: Heres one thing we learned as a business and as a band, if you want to make it, put it on the internet/social media. This is such a crucial part of running a businies/band because you can buy tickets online in a matter of seconds and share the events and so on. People have more access to your music and can communicate more efficiently with other people and share it.

C: What does the future of the band hold?

T: The future of the band holds many, many things. All I can say is just stay tuned and keep an eye out for us.
