Tyra Banks on the future of beauty: Banks' makes bold beauty predictions

Tyra Banks has weighed in on the future of beauty with 10 predictions reported ABC News Tuesday. The 40-year-old supermodel/TV personality sees the beauty trend turning to one of “uniqueness” with less of a value placed on “traditional beauty.”

“As I look into the future, I see radical changes in both how people ‘attain beauty,’ and how the world perceives it,” wrote Tyra Banks in a piece she penned for The Wall Street Journal. The statuesque host of a new TV talk show in the works outlined her 10 beauty predictions from quick plastic surgery to advertising and robots to skin color. Some seem a little far-fetched, while other beauty ideas have already been introduced into the mainstream market. Her five most absurd future beauty predictions are listed below.

Tyra Banks’ first beauty prophecy focuses on plastic surgery, but not to look like everyone else with “cookie-cutter” procedures, but to attain a “distinctive, unique look.” Banks believes “plastic surgery will be as easy and quick as going to the drugstore for Tylenol.” Oh, we hope not, going under anesthesia for any procedure has its risks. To be unique means to keep one’s crooked nose and love the skin you’re in.

A “hair growing serum” that will grow, lengthen and thicken the hair in 24 hours will replace hair extensions," writes Tyra Banks. That is a bold statement, but most likely not to occur, for a variety of reasons. Hair growth serum has not been developed because the cause of hair loss needs to be determined. If a product were that easy to manufacture, it would have been done. If the serum gets on the hands or face during application, well then hello monkey person.

Tyra Banks has declared designer babies “will be as selectable as menu-items at a fast-food drive-through window.” “Yes, hello, I’d like to order the blond-haired blue-eyed baby without the teenage attitude.” She went on to declare that “blue and green eyes will be so common that dark brown will become the rare and newly desired eye color.” Time to head back to science class Ms. Banks and learn that brown is the dominant color, which contradicts your next beauty prediction.

“Skin color and features will mesh into a similar shade for the majority of people” such as that of Rhianna and Beyoncé. Banks believes very white or very dark will be “heralded for its uniqueness.” It already is, Lupita Nyong’o is stunning and her skin radiant.

Tyra Banks’ prejudice prediction is more of a global hope. Although looks might, and might is a strong word, meld, the beauty on the inside will not. People are prejudice for more than just skin color and facial features and hatred runs deep. Tyra stated that “prejudiced based upon skin color will be eradicated” and focused on social and economic standards, however those with lower incomes won’t have “easy access to beauty,” as Tyra suggests. But, we could hope.
