Types of Aircraft

In todays world the aircraft industry is big business and the companies who build them are always thinking of ways to make the aircraft they build safe for their passengers to fly on to wherever they may wish to fly.

Aircraft has same a long way since Lewis and Clark first took to the sky in their aircraft but the way aircraft is built today is based on the same concept that Lewis and Clark came up with to make their historic flight.

The basic light single engine propeller driven aircraft is usually built with a metal frame and some sort of fabric covering.

The light single engine propeller driven aircraft is also usually equipped and powered with a reciprocating engine with 90 to over 200 horsepower, can weigh 3,500 pounds or more, and can carry two to six passengers.

The two engine propeller driven aircraft may be constructed of heavier materials and the outer fabric thicker if the aircraft is being designed to fly in a pressurized environment.

A two engine propeller driven aircraft is built to carry heavier loads and usually is designed to carry over 60 passengers depending on the purpose the aircraft was designed to fulfill.

The four engine propeller driven aircraft is designed to fly in a pressurized environment and can be used to transport passengers and cargo, and the four engine propeller driven aircraft is still being used by the military for troop transport, cargo, and vehicle transport.

The turboprop driven aircraft is equipped with either two or four turbine engines, can withstand high speeds, pressurization, and is designed to carry 50 to 150 passengers.

The turboprop driven aircraft is usually designed to transport passengers but could be used for many other purposes.

Jet powered aircraft are designed for many purposes from the single engine jet powered fighter aircraft to the large muti-engine jet powered commercial airline aircraft.

The large 747 muti-engine jet powered commercial airline can carry over 500 passengers, is built to withstand extensive pressurization and stress, made with magnesium and titanium, is formed from sheets, beams, and honeycomb.

Aircraft has evolved into a muti-million business and has become a major part in the transportation of passengers and goods.
