Tyonne Malone and Justin Stewart will be in Providence, Rhode Island on Oct. 25, to take in Providence College men’s and women's basketball Late Night Madness event according to Masslive article on Oct. 21. Malone, class of 2016, and Stewart, class of 2015, will be playing at Putnam Vocational Technical Academy in Springfield, Mass., this season following their transfer from Williston Northhampton (Easthampton, Mass.).
The left-handed Malone scored in double-figures 18 times and grabbed double-figure rebounds 18 times as a freshman. He posted at least 20 points in 10 games, including a season-high 44 against Berkshire on Feb. 15. Malone averaged 20.1 points, 11.3 rebounds and 1.6 blocks.
Malone has multiple Division I scholarship offers from Boston University, Manhattan, St. Peter’s, and UMass, who was the first school to offer. UConn, Boston College and Providence have also expressed interest in the 6-4 swingman according to Andre Stewart, Malone’s travel coach.
Stewart, a 5-10 point guard, is a top Massachusetts prospect in the class of 2015. He averaged 3.9 points and 3.6 assists last year.
Providence’s Late Night Madness tips off the College’s men’s and women’s basketball season and closed to the public. The event will feature DJ Nick Cannon, the host of America's Got Talent and Wild `N Out. FOX Sports 1 will be capturing video of the event for its BIG EAST Tip Off Party that will air live from 9:00-11:00 p.m. that evening.
Putnam went 24-1 last season and is the defending Division I state champion.
