Tyler Seguin of the Boston Bruins is featured on the cover of the latest issue of The Improper Bostonian magazine, just in time for their annual Bachelor/Ette feature.
In his interview, he talks to Jonathan Soroff about a vast array of topics, including his time in Switzerland, the stresses of the NHL lockout, his pre-game meals and post-game superstitions, what he did with the Stanley Cup, what he spends his money on and the persistent rumors that he's dating pretty much every woman in the city of Boston.
To pass the time in Switzerland, he did a lot of cooking, saw movies in English and German and played poker with his EHC Biel teammates whenever he wasn't on the ice putting up 25 goals and 15 assists. He also said that he would get messages saying to pack his bags and prepare for a start to the NHL season, only to get excited by false alarms.
Whereas some NHL players are famously superstitious, Seguin said that he tries to do the exact opposite, like wearing a different pair of gloves after a good game. He does always eat salmon with honey on the night before and day of a game, though, and he enjoys peanut butter and jelly on bagels at TD Garden.
Seguin has become somewhat of a luxury goods fan--he said he likes to shop at high-price places like Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus and Barneys, he loves Breitling watches and he drives a Maserati, all at the age of 21.
However, when it comes to the rumors about his supposed girlfriends, Seguin insists that he is "very single" despite having briefly dated a Playboy model and denying rumors about dating Boston University students.
On the ice, he said his strongest characteristics are related to his skating and his quick release.
Bruins have been featured on the cover of The Improper Bostonian before, including Patrice Bergeron, who graced the cover late in 2008. This earned him some well-meaning teasing from Shawn Thornton, which will probably be what Seguin gets from his teammates soon too.
