Tyler Perry teams with Lionsgate to adapt 'For Colored Girls' stage play

Tyler Perry is set to write the screenplay adaptation of the Ntozake Shange play For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf.

Perry will also produce and direct the film for Lionsgate.  While no one has yet been cast in the film, the projected release is slated for 2010.

Perry's most recent film, I Can Do Bad All By Myself is scheduled for a September 11th release, while Why Did I Get Married Too? hits the theaters in 2010.
