Tye Tribbett, Tasha Cobbs and Mandisa win at the 56th Grammy Awards

The 56th Annual Grammy Awards took place this past Sunday, January 26th in Los Angeles, CA. The Pre-Telecast took place at the Nokia Theatre and presented the first Grammy Awards earlier in the day in approximately 70 categories. This particular event was attended by both nominees and industry VIP's and was hosted by Grammy winner, singer Cyndi Lauper. The five awards in the Gospel/Contemporary Christian genre were presented during this telecast.

Gospel singer, Tye Tribbett, received the Grammy Award for Best Gospel Song for his song, "If He Did It Before...Same God" from his 2013 release, Greater Than, which also won the Grammy for Best Gospel Album. American Idol alum, Mandisa, received a Grammy for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album for her 4th release, Overcomer. The songwriters for Mandisa's hit song, "Overcomer" (David Garcia, Ben Glover & Christopher Stevens) won a Grammy for Best Contemporary Christian Music Song. Finally, singer Tasha Cobbs, who had an amazing 2013, also earned a Grammy for Best Gospel/Contemporary Christian Music Performance for her hit single, "Break Every Chain" from her debut release, Grace.
