After capturing two Grammys this year, Tye Tribbett is getting lots of welcomed exposure. The multiple Grammy, Stellar award and Soul Train music award winning gospel recording artist will perform at the 35th annual UNCF: An Evening of Stars on April 6 in Atlanta, Ga. The announcement was made today, March 27.
Tribbett is among a top-notch roster of performers that includes fellow Grammy winners The Isley Brothers, Jill Scott, and more. The singer will bring his energetic praise to the historic United Negro College Fund-hosted telecast as the night’s only gospel act. The show is scheduled to tape April 6 at the Atlanta Civic Center.
One week prior to the show’s airing, the Motown Gospel artist can be seen delivering a show-stopping performance at the 14th annual BET Celebration of Gospel that airs April 6 at 8 p.m. EST.
Tye Tribbett started the year off with two Grammy wins for Best Gospel Song ("If He Did It Before...Same God") and Best Gospel Album ("Greater Than"), preceded by a Male Vocalist of the Year win at the 2014 Stellar Awards (his fifth overall), the string of honors accompany the continued success of his latest album.
"Greater Than" debuted #9 on Billboard 200 and #1 on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums chart and remained #1 for four consecutive weeks. Currently "Greater Than" continues its prominence on the Gospel Albums Top Ten chart and has moved up to #8 this week; 32 weeks after its debut.
UNCF: An Evening of Stars will air on BET, Sunday, April 13 at 10 p.m. EST.
