On Saturday March 13th, the Tybee Island Dogs on the Beach group will be joining the 8th Annual Tybee Island Irish Heritage Parade with dogs! They are calling it the “IRwISH DOGS ARE ALLOWED ON THE BEACH.” Take note to the first word, yes it is Irish with a twist of I wish in there. The point to be taken here is that there are responsible dog owners and that the Tybee Council needs to give these owners a trial run to prove that. This all stems from recent council meeting that is still not allowing dogs on the beach.

Join the “Tybee Island Dogs on the Beach” group that will be marching as a “Tybee Island Band of Dogs”. If you are interested in showing Tybee that your dog belongs on the beach then meet at 2:30 at the YMCA. The parade starts at 3PM. Do keep in mind your dogs must be on leash and you must bring doggy bags. If you have any questions, please call 786 5403 or email Karenontybee@aol.com .

Please keep in mind, you are allowed to create signs to carry or put on your dogs. These signs must be St. Patrick's Day themed but you can give them a twist to permote allowing dogs on the beach. If the sign is not per the Parade Committee's requirements, they can make you take down the sign or ask you to not use it in the parade. Use some creativity like "We are Green with envy to allow our dogs on the beach" and have clovers on the sign. Or maybe "St. Patrick was a slave but got away, let our dogs be free on the beach". It is claimed that St. Partick was a slave for 6 years before escaping and going back to his home in Ireland, there he became a large part within the church.
