Two upcoming races allow you to run while giving back

Wollforth and New Deal are both hosting races this Saturday, October 27th benefiting great causes. With one in the morning and one in the evening, you could even make both events.
Make-a-Wish North Texas is hosting a 1-mile fun run and 5k/10k run at Frenship High School football stadium. Registration and race bib pickup begins at 9:30am with the race beginning at 10:30am. Registration fees run from $10 to $30 (see site for complete list of fees). On-site registration will be $10 more per category. In addition to the race, there will also be a costume contest with prizes for the winners. Be sure to allow yourself time to check in and get your race number before the start of the race. Proceeds benefit Make-a-Wish North Texas.
You can follow that great cause up with a 1-mile or 5k at New Deal’s Barbara Anglin Track. This event benefits Amy Turner. Amy was diagnosed with a brain tumor 8 years ago. After 2 surgeries, over 6 years of chemo and a lifetime dosage of radiation treatment, Amy has now been invited to be a part of a drug trial in San Antonio. The benefits of this event will assist Amy and her family with travel and accommodations for her to participate in this trial. This event begins at 5:30pm. In addition to the 1-mile and 5k races, there is also a ¼ mile costume parade. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children. They will also be selling t-shirts and accepting donations on-site.
Both of these events are family friendly and open to all levels of participants. With two great causes to support, I hope to see you at both.
