Two teen girls charged with threatening 16-year-old Steubenville rape victim (Video)

Only one day after Steubenville High School football players Trent Mays and Ma'Lik Richmond were found guilty of raping a drunken and incoherent 16-year-old girl at a party last Aug., two Ohio girls were arrested and charged yesterday on suspicion of making online threats against that same 16-year-old rape victim, according to U.S. News.

Reportedly, the 15-year-old and 16-year-old girls threatened the rape victim on twitter and Facebook on Sunday, the same day that Mays and Richmond were appearing in court to receive their guilty verdicts.

The older of the two girls was charged with aggravated menacing and threatened to kill the rape victim when she tweeted in part "you ripped my family apart."

The younger girl was charged with menacing after threatening the rape victim with bodily harm on twitter.

According to Steubenville police Capt. Joel Walker, the two girls were being held in juvenile detention.

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine said "these arrests, I hope, will end the harassment of the victim,"

"We are simply not going to tolerate this. Enough is enough."

Although Mays and Richmond were found guilty of rape on Sunday, the investigation and the case of the 16-year-old drunken rape victim is far from over.

DeWine is looking into the possibility of charging anyone and everyone “who failed to speak up after the attack last August.” Charges could be brought against:

… other teens, parents, school officials and coaches for the high school's beloved football team, which has won nine state championships.

The hope is that charges would also be brought against those witnessing the 16-year-old girl being raped at that party and didn’t do anything to stop the assault, but instead stood around and took videos and pictures of the rape in progress.

A grand jury is scheduled to convene in April to review evidence gathered by investigators in the case.

Trent Mays, 17, and Ma'Lik Richmond, 16, were sentenced to at least one year each in juvenile prison for their part in the rape.

Mays will be serving an additional year for distributing nude images of his rape victim.
