This weekend has seen two dramatically different scenarios being played out with principle leads of the Harley-Davidson riding cast of "Sons of Anarchy" on two separate islands. Theo Rossi (Juice Ortiz) has been in the center of the chaos and recovery on Staten Island and Charlie Hunnam (Jax Teller) has been in the midst of thousands of adoring fans on Galveston Island for the Lone Star Rally.
Theo Rossi had been on Staten Island visiting family before Hurricane Sandy hit; afterward, he found himself unable to leave and catch a flight back to L.A. so he has been front and center on the recovery efforts for the survivors. As noted in the Friday update in this column, Rossi has been quoted that the devastation on Staten Island was far worse than the mainstream media has shown.
Particularly worrisome was that so many of the older people didn't take the warnings seriously or they simply hadn't watched the news and were unaware of the storm.
Rossi has taken advantage of his large fan base on Twitter and has been consistently updating throughout the days and nights with recovery efforts, photos, and calls for help. It is well worth reviewing his posts from recent days and subscribing to his tweets so that his updates can be retweeted to those that are able to help.
More than 1,600 miles away - and at a location that has also seen its fair share of catastrophic hurricanes - on Galveston Island, actor Charlie Hunnam has been participating in autograph sessions for fans and taking advantage of organized rides.
Die-hard riders in the southern part of the U.S. look forward to the Lone Star Rally on Galveston Island. The 4-day event is free to attend and regularly pulls in as many as 500,000 attendees; four years ago the Rally found itself in a similar situation when Hurricane Ike devastated the island just weeks before the event.
